More kind words about DROP THE BONE
Saturday, January 20th, 2018“As one of our leading authorities on the Grateful Dead, David Gans has long enlightened us on the history of that band. And in his own music, it’s mightily clear he’s taken valuable lessons from them: a love of improv, a deep respect for American vernacular music from folk to jazz, a loose-limbed joy in making music, and damn good taste in covers. Drop the Bone will move you, brightly.”

Kind words from a beloved colleague
Sunday, December 24th, 2017The logrolling is inevitable here. Barry‘s praise is extra precious to me because of my deep regard for his work. I love his records, and I love his trilogy The Miranda Complex (volume 3 of which is coming VERY soon!).
Enjoying the heck out of the latest album from @davidgans, "Drop the Bone." Just the right mixture of songwriting precision and jammy otherness. Dig it like a bone, baby!https://t.co/xc8MYy4HR4

“Drop the Bone”
Thursday, March 28th, 2013I am thrilled to announce that I have half a song on Peter Rowan‘s new CD, The Old School. We started writing “Drop the Bone” a couple of summers ago when we were both playing at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park, we worked on it at Peter’s house a couple of times shortly after that, and then Pete took it on the road and perfected it with his Bluegrass Band.
The Old School is available for download and CD pre-order now from the Compass Records web site. Give it a listen, and buy a copy if you like what you hear!
