Have a fine day David and Tim! Greetings as ever from Serbia :-) Please say hi to Dead Mondays, possibly the only Dead tribute band in the Balkans :-)

  3. Good morning David and Tim!!!! Thank you for all you do for the world of radio, the Grateful Dead, and music fans worldwide. You make a difference in this world and we are all appreciative of your efforts, insight and friendship. Wishing you a successful marathon and fundraising event!!

  4. Dan says:

Fitting opener from 30 yrs ago this month.
“So lets get on with the show…………….let’s go.”

  5. Drew says:

Thank you David, Tim and KPFA.

  10. Fred Levitan says:

Hi David and Tim! Been listening since 1985. Now in Oregon listening online. Thank the Universe for the Grateful Dead, the GD Hour/Dead to the World, the Marathon, KPFA, David, Blair, Tim and all the Deadheads out there that keep our scene happening in love and light! Loving the 12/20/86 in unsurpassed Charlie Miller quality – great show with JG all the way back from his illness – was there of course)!

  11. Charles Miller says:

Having done lots of research, I’m 99% sure that it’s Martin Fierro on 8/3/69 playing sax.

  12. corry342 says:

Charlie, you’re in the best position to know. Fierro had already played with Doug Sahm, and recorded with Dan Healy (on sessions for Sahm). His band Shades Of Joy had even opened for the Dead at Fillmore West, on February 28 and March 1, 1969 (http://lostlivedead.blogspot.com/2011/03/february-28-1969-fillmore-west-grateful.html). Fierro was also an old 60s buddy of Howard Wales.

Yet it contradicts everything Fierro ever said about meeting Garcia.

    Amazing

  13. Roy from Serbia says:

    This HTK set us superb!

  14. Drew says:

    I’m with Roy.

  15. Bayareaboy says:

I feel blessed to have been alive during the Grateful Dead era, experiencing the music, people, love and great times from the shows to the family jamming tree that expands year after year for future generations.

  16. Phil McGee says:

That ain’t Martin Fierro. It’s a good player for sure, but Martin is always recognizable by his sound and that ain’t it.

  17. Phil McGee says:

That ain’t Martin Fierro. It’s a good player for sure, but Martin is always recognizable by his sound and that ain’t it.

  18. Ripple says:

Doesn’t sound like Martin to me either. Not a clue who it is.

  19. Jimmy Feathersmith says:

Thank you David & Tim for doing all you do to keep the music going. The HTK set was AMAZING!!!! See ya next year and until then listen to the music play & always PLAY DEAD!!!! Jimmy from a very cold Philly.
