KPFA marathon coming up!

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Watch this page for info on the annual KPFA Grateful Dead marathon, scheduled for Saturday, February 20, 2010, 9 am to 1 am pacific time.

KPFA marathon thanks and links

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

The January 31 KPFA marathon playlist is posted here. Thanks to all who contributed to KPFA, hung out in the chat room, came to the station to take pledges – and those who weren’t able to give to KPFA but listened to the music and contributed to the vibe.

You can still contribute to KPFA, of course. Take a look at this page and see the huge list of thank-you gifts.

Thanks to:

Josh Troy, Ben Trask, Jason Spitz, Rich Mahan, and Mary Eisenhart at Rhino/DeadNet for their invaluable assistance in making the day a success.

Sandy Hall at gratefulbeans.com for sending some excellent coffee for us at the station and for donors to the cause. It’s quite an honor to have a blend named after me! And Sandy hung out in the chat room quite a bit, too.

Tim Lynch and Angie Coiro for stopping by to pitch.

Marc (Capt. Clearlight) Evans for staying on message in the chat room.

Michele C Hollow (author) and Amy Vida (publisher) for donating Grateful Dead: What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been

John Bergan at Grateful Graphics for spreading the word; for donating gift cards; for bringing a big box of gifties for the phone crew; and for doing a shift in the phone room, too.

Eric Eichorn for working in the phone room ALL DAY! And giving money, too! What a guy!

Phone room supervisors Allison Rolls and Joseph Maurer, for keeping it together all day and into the night.

Luis Medina, KPFA’s music director; Sasha Lilley, KPFA’s program director; and Gar Niederhoff, KPFA’s subscriptions director..

Sandy Sonnenfelt for bringing dinner.

Bob Jaffe of the Grand Bakery for bringing sweets.

And of course, Charlie Miller for providing so much great music.

KPFA marathon reminder

Friday, February 8th, 2008

Reminder: tomorrow is the annual KPFA Grateful Dead fund-raising marathon. Please pass this info along to your communities everywhere!

Saturday, February 9, 2008, 9 am to 1 am pacific time

It’ll be webcast via DeadNet and nugs.net and gdradio.net and of course kpfa.org – tune in if you can, and please spread the word!

Pledge phone numbers: 510-848-5732 and 1–800-439-5732. You can also pledge online at kpfa.org/support

The playlist and program notes will be updated in real time right here at cloudsurfing.gdhour.com

We’ll be using the DeadNet chat room.

DeadNet is providing some great premiums: Road Trips vol 1 no 2 (Fall 1977); a DeadNet Store gift card; the Vault Box; and they’re also donating 10% of all Dick’s Picks sales for the day to KPFA, so it’s a good time to fill in some gaps in your collection. We’ll have some other CDs, books, DVDs, and concert tickets, too.

As for the music, I have some uncirculated live GD from 1972, 1977, and 1980; highlights of last Monday’s Deadheads for Obama show (and the press conference Phil, Bob, and Mickey did before the show); and more surprises to be determined as I finish my pre-production work today.
