MagnoliaFest update

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Dear Festival Folks:

Are you wondering where your MagnoliaFest Tickets are???

Well, we have not mailed them out yet, so don’t sweat it. We’re sorry, but we were already behind the curve getting the tickets updated so they can’t be copied and then along came Fay. Many of you are trying to play catchup after last week, like we are.  It’s looking like we’ll get the tickets out by the end of this week, so you can expect them in your mailbox within the next 2 weeks. Thanks for your patience. We appreciate it!

Some of you may have been wondering what happened to our radio show “Americana Saturday Night”. Due to some unforeseen changes at WZNZ (namely the selling of the station to another interest), we chose to resign our program there effective Aug 1st.

We are pleased to announce that we are beginning a brand new radio show on the internet. Tonight, and every Tuesday evening from 7-9pm CT (that’s 8-10pm in the East), we will present “The MagMusic Show,” hosted by Randy “Big Cosmo” Judy and Beth Judy. The new show can be heard online at Wildman Steve Radio. We will be featuring more music than before as WMSR is commercial-free.

Wildman Steve Radio is the perfect fit for the new “MagMusic Show”, and they share our commitment to presenting the finest in Americana, roots rock, bluegrass, newgrass, folk, blues, and a few things that simply defy description. In the coming weeks look for interviews with some of your favorite performers, music news, and special musical treats directly from the Magnolia Music vaults. Please be sure to tune in TONIGHT and every Tuesday from 7-9pm CT (8-10pm ET) for The MagMusic Show.

You may order tickets online or call 904-249-7990 to order by phone.  Our office hours vary tremendously, but generally Monday - Friday 10am – 5pm. If you get a voicemail, leave a message and someone will call you back. We do call backs at all kinds of hours!

Bill Kreutzmann’s new trio

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

I haven’t talked to Bill to confirm this yet, but I am told they’re calling it THREE. It’s Bill Kreutzmann on drums, Oteil Burbridge on bass, and Scott Murawski on guitar. More news when I get it.

This just in from my favorite festival:

“We are so excited we can hardly contain ourselves! As longtime Grateful Dead fans, bringing the newly-formed Bill Kreutzmann Trio to you at MagnoliaFest 2008 is beyond exciting! And when we discovered one of his partners in the trio is none other then our very own festival favorite Oteil Burbridge, that made it even more perfect for Magfest! Check out the the website of 3rd trio member, Scott Murawski (Max Creek) for some incredible live BKT music. The music is from one of their first shows, and you just know that come October it will be peaking underneath the live oaks at the Suwannee.”

MagnoliaFest is October 23-26, 2008 at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida, just a few miles south of the Georgia line. Other cool stuff is in the works for this year’s fall favorite, too.
